Julian and I went to the Gate House for the first time recently and had a wonderful experience. It is located in a beautiful old factory-turned-quaint mall decorated with art and fountains. We had the “Chorizo, Goat Cheese and Caramelized Onion Quesadilla with Avocado Ranch Dressing” appetizer, which I have selected as the “best appetizer ever” under my first post. It was out of this world. One would not think a quesadilla could be this gourmet and delicious. We shared “The South Wedge” pizza (Garlic Butter, Ricotta, Mushrooms, Asparagus and Roasted Peppers) and it was great. I would not recommend The Eastman (Falafel burger with Tabouli and Tzatziki) or The Wease (Smoked Gouda, Fried Onions and Horseradish Steak Sauce) as a Veggie Burger. The Falafel was poorly made, and the Veggie burger tasteless. The sweet potato fries are heavenly, drizzle with honey. The best I’ve ever tasted. Last time I was there I ordered the Butternut Squash Lasagna with Basil Bechamel, which was good, but would have been better had the squash not been mashed and the lasagna is sitting in a bowl of tomato sauce which is unnecessary. We’ve also tried the Peanut Butter, Nutella and Banana Sundae, which is huge and not made with nutella, but rather a chocolate sauce, but is a fun treat for 3 or more people. Overall, the best things to get are still the quesadilla and sweet potato fries.
