Mint

Julian and I looked at the tapas menu, and I was not that thrilled by it, but when we got to the Rondout, it seemed like this and Mole Mole were our only two options and I wasn’t in the mood for Mexican. We were the only ones in here (it was 8:30 on a Wednesday), so I asked the host to turn off the fans because it was making me cold and he said of course. The waitress was also really nice, and the chef (owner?) was chatting with some people and we could hear his thick Italian accent, which made us feel so happy. As if that wasn’t enough, the bread that comes with the meal, is delicious, warm garlic bread! We were in heaven. We both ordered pasta because it said it was homemade (yum!). I had the Pappardelle, and Julian had the Malfatti di Spinach. His tasted like Gnocchi, and was so soft and delicious. It’s extraordinary what a difference homemade pasta makes. My sauce (simple and plain, but delectable) was also wonderful. We had such a lovely experience here, and the pastas only cost $10, and the “tapas” portions are not tiny!!!

Update: Julian and I went here with his whole family for dinner and had the best time. The waiter, Mike, was extremely informative and clearly a foodie himself. He even let me “test” the homemade gnocchi, and a very generous portion at that. I had told him that I usually don’t like gnocchi as it can be chewy, but he assured me that this gnocchi was fluffy-and it was. I ended up ordering the Bolognese Gnocchi, the special of the night, and it was the best Gnocchi I’ve ever tasted. For dessert I had the Chocolate Truffle, which was a (large) slice of heaven in my mouth. Truly one of the best desserts ever. I really cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Julian and I had a romantic evening at Mint, and Mike truly made our night. It was definitely one of our favorite dining experiences, and all thanks to him!

Mint is a true treat. My favorite restaurant I’ve been to in Kingston. I had lost all hope in Kingston, but now I know there is something good. I would definitely recommend going here.

Just as good the second time :)
