Le Grainne Cafe

November 2, 2011 by Nina

We had really meant to go here the day before, but because of the rain, we only got as far as the Chelsea Market. It was packed once we got there, but despite this, we were seated immediately. I ordered a Cafe Au Lait, which came in a soup bowl-my favorite! Julian had the œuf maison (poached egg on a goat cheese potato cake which comes on either spinach or ratatouille, he had ratatouille), which was wonderful. I had never had ratatouille before, and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the croque madame (country bread with ham and cheese toasted with an egg), something I’ve been thinking about trying for a long time. It was so delicious. The bread was really fresh, and the cheese that was melted on top was plentiful. Next time I hope to try their Creme Brulee, which has received all sorts of awards. A great breakfast/brunch spot in NYC!
