Ravenous was actually recommended to me by the owner of Bell’s via Facebook (which I love by the way. I wish more people would do this!). We were seated by a quirky waiter, who immediately convinced me to get a Hot Chocolate with House-made Whipped Cream. I must say that I felt like it was too expensive overall, but still pretty good (they could have put a heck of a lot more whipped cream on if you ask me). I had the Texas Crepe (Homemade chili con carne, with cheddar cheese, scallions, and a dollop of sour cream) and Julian had the Heloise (Goat cheese, grape tomatoes, scallions & fresh basil). Mine was a hardy lumberjack kind of breakfast, with fries that were double-fried. The fries are definitely on the top of my best fries ever list. They were the crunchiest fries I’ve ever had. Julian had the more sensible breakfast (aka healthier), one that perhaps French people would eat. When we were leaving, Julian pointed out that the Crepes are not make fresh, on the Crepe maker, which really colored my experience of the place, because I had definitely felt like the crepe itself was too thick and not very fresh tasting. So that was really disappointing. I’m sure they make them in house, just ahead of time, but you can really taste the difference between that and a fresh crepe. Either way, we had a good time here, and I think Julian really loved it.
