  2. Indian Gate

    November 11, 2011 by Nina

After visiting UBuffalo’s MSW program, Julian and I decided we were in the mood for Indian food (when are we not?). It was a pretty typical Indian restaurant, but with the addition of booth seating. Our waiter was definitely the friendliest Indian waiter I’ve ever had, and just the friendliest Indian I’ve talked to in the U.S. period, so that made our experience really special. The food was good, and a bit spicier and more flavorful than I’ve had. I had a Paneer, which I never do, and Julian had Chickpeas, and we of course had butter naan (mmmm, my favorite!). I will be going here again if I go to UBuffalo.

  3. Chow Chocolat

    March 7, 2011 by Nina

Though I don’t really have much to say since we went here on “the first saturday of the month,” which is reserved for a dance class (I’m assuming for UBuffalo), we did pick up a box of sea-salt caramel chocolates. Since the dance class was going on, we ate them in the car. They were de-li-cious! I am still lusting after more.

  4. Ristorante Lombardo

    November 23, 2010 by Nina

This restaurant was recommended to me by a Buffalo resident as the best italian in buffalo, so naturally, I wanted to go here. The reason we drove to Buffalo in the first place was to see the film “Inside Job” (excellent movie) which wasn’t playing anywhere closer. We went to the movie first, so we got to the restaurant at 9:15 and were the only ones there (uncommon for this place, usually you have to make a reservation). We ordered the lobster ravioli (Astice E Mascarpone Raviolini), butternut squash pasta (Riccotta Stozzapreti), parmesean french fries, and benoffee (banana cream) pie. All the food was so wonderful. The Riccotta Stozzapreti was out of this world (possibly the best pasta ever) and MUCH better than Eataly (NYC). Definitely worth a 1 1/2 hour drive to eat here!

Recommended: Ricotta Strozzapreti (caramelized butternut squash, speck, fresh sage, brown butter-maple crema, and pecorino romano)
