Julian and I share a common love for adventure. This started when we were very young (I was on my first plane at five-months-old), but the adventures started when we met, and actually so did the restauranting. So it really makes sense that I would add a page to this blog about our travels. We have been to almost all places within a 300-mile radius of our hometown, and most places in the Northeast. We have frequented Vermont (we go to Ben and Jerry’s once a year), Massachusetts (pizza extravaganza–I mean, Forth of July in Boston is a tradition, and we usually make a small road trip out of it), and of course, New York (where it all began). For my 20th birthday, we took a road trip to Portland, Maine in the middle of a snowstorm. For our senior year spring break, we slept in the back of my station wagon from Rochester to Savannah, Georgia. In the summer of 2010, we spent a month in India. After working 48-hour weeks to save money we went on a post-graduation trip to Thailand and Vietnam for three months. Still, my best memories are the random trips we’ve taken on a whim, sometimes leaving in the middle of the night. Julian is also an expert at surprise adventures, the best of course being our engagement trip to Nantucket on January 31, 2011.
[...] I’ve decided to add a weekly column to my blog. It will be called “why I didn’t go there” and will include reasons why I decided against going to a restaurant, a complaint about a restaurant and why I won’t go there again, or how I knew a restaurant would be bad based on factors such as décor, customers, music, etc. I will post these each Monday morning. So, check under the “why I didn’t go there” tab or click here. [...]
