  1. La Florentina

    October 21, 2011 by Nina

I used to really love La Florentina, and it was one of my favorite restaurants in the area, but since having developed a much more sophisticated taste for food, I enjoy this restaurant less. My favorite part is still the bread that comes fresh out of the oven, pipping hot with fresh herbs on top (is it free though?). The pizza here is good, but not as exceptional as I used to believe. The pasta dishes are only slightly better than Olive Garden, and therefore, I find them to be overpriced. Still, it’s known for its pizza, so you should only order pizza. The Shrimp Florentina (shrimp, fresh tomatoes, fresh spinach, homemade mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, onions, red peppers, and black olives) is one of my favorites. The latest time that I went I had the Carbonara with fettuccine (peas and prosciuttto in a creamy sauce). I’ve had this dish before at Cafe Tamayo where it is gourmet, and outstanding. This did not compare. The prosciutto I am pretty sure was actually ham. I probably wouldn’t order it again since I think it cost more than it was worth (not too difficult to make a cream sauce and cook store bought noodles), but then again, I should have known better than to order that. If you go here, definitely stick to pizza, which is great.
