  1. Nevaeh Soul Food

    March 29, 2011 by Nina

We left Savannah on St. Patty’s day early to beat the rush (counterintuitive, I know), but wanted to get breakfast on the way out. So we stopped at Navaeh’s because the sign caught our eyes. This small joint was charming as anything. Just the type of place you’d expect from the south. The staff was so friendly and the customers that came in greeted one another with hugs. I had Fried Chicken, Red Rice (apparently native to Georgia, as we were told), Corn and a [warm] Corn Muffin and Julian had Black Eyed Peas and Cabbage. The food wasn’t as exceptional as Chicken and Waffles, but still great, and the atmosphere really made it a wonderful experience. I would definitely go here if you want to get a real taste of the south!

  2. Leopold’s Ice Cream

    March 28, 2011 by Nina

As I already said, Savannah’s historic district is a tourist trap and has no good restaurants. Having said that, Leopold’s Ice Cream, the interior which looked similar to the old fashioned ice cream parlor in Philadelphia, is worth taking a trip to. It has such a cute, inviting interior, and many flavors to choose from. We got a hot fudge sundae with one scoop of thin mint ice cream and one ooey-gooey-chocolate. The hot fudge was exceptionally good. Overall, the ice cream here is so delicious!

  3. Loc’s Chicken & Waffles

    March 25, 2011 by Nina

I found Loc’s Chicken & Waffles on Urbanspoon, and because of its high ratings and my desire for some fried chicken we decided to go here (though the appearance isn’t that inviting). The Fried Chicken I had here was absolutely wonderful. I mean, truly the best. So crispy and flaky. A mouthwateringly delightful meal. It’s outside of downtown Savannah, and was better than any of the restaurants in the downtown area, which shows that sometimes it’s worth driving around—or checking Urbanspoon.
