  1. kayak kafe

    March 26, 2011 by Nina

After walking around Savannah, we quickly realized the whole city is pretty much just a tourist trap, as are all the restaurants. But we were starved because the hot sun, which we’ve been lacking up North for the past six months, made us woozy. So we reluctantly went to Kayak Kafe. They were voted best salad, so we ordered one, but split it because it cost $11. It was good, but definitely not worth the price. There really aren’t many good places to eat in Savannah, and none at all in the historic district.

  2. Gigi’s

    December 29, 2010 by Nina

Julian and I went to Gigi’s yesterday and ordered the parmesan fries and cheese plate as appetizers and the BARBINA salad (Organic Baby Greens, Roasted Beets, Butternut Squash, Mushrooms, Coach Farm Goat Cheese, Toasted Walnuts and Gigi Sherry-Shallot Vinaigrette) and ANGOLOTTI (Butternut Squash and Mascarpone Filled Ravioli, Parmesan, and Crumbled Amaretti). The fries were warm and crunchy, but with less parmesan than they usually come with and the cheese plate came on a wooden cutting board with grapes, apple butter, and almonds. Though it would have been nice if each cheese came with a label. The butternut squash ravioli was heavenly and the salad was nicely prepared with an added touch of walnuts that was diced into small pieces. I don’t much care for beets, but they were easy to avoid. The dressing was also quite light and delicious. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Note: the BIANCA skizza (Coach Farm Goat Cheese, Mozzarella, Gigi Fig Jam preserve, Pear, Arugula and White Truffle Oil) is also a unique pizza that is a must try!

  3. Cafe Angelique

    June 1, 2010 by Nina

Yesterday Julian and I went to Cafe Angelique to get iced coffee on a typical NYC blazing hot summer day, and I couldn’t help but notice how delicious the salads looked. So later we went back for dinner. I order the “Roquefort” (with sliced pear) and Julian ordered the “Mango and Goat Cheese.” Both were delicious and very rich. Mine had Pear Vinaigrette with a taste of blue cheese and walnuts. The goat cheese on Julian’s salad was to die for. It was so creamy and delicious. The cafe also had sandwiches that looked great. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
