Julian and I went out to dinner with his grandmother the other night, and since the La Duchesse Anne (still haven’t been there) was closed, we went here. Julian looked up the menu and was enticed by the Truffle Fries. It is located inside the Madalin Hotel, and didn’t seem promising when we walked in and saw the bar scene (Julian’s grandmother actually told them to be quiet as she is “eighty and can’t hear her lovely grandson”)-and you know that I hate noisy restaurants. We were the only ones eating at 7pm on a Thursday night. Julian had the Fried Chickpea appetizer and I had the Pulled Pork Pizza. I must say that I thought his didn’t sound good, but was actually amazing, with the combination of the crispy, crunchy outside and the soft, chewy inside. I had the messiest pizza I’ve ever had, but it was really quite good. Julian had the Veggie Burger (delicious. I had the leftovers for lunch the next day) and I had the Steak and Shrimp with Homemade Fettuccine (boring I know, but I found the whole entree menu to be uninteresting). Our dessert was really disappointing. The waitress called it a Chocolate Truffle with nuts on top, but it was more like a few tiny slabs of nut fudge. I felt like maybe she didn’t understand what the dessert was. If I were to go again I would order only appetizers (and the truffle fries). I didn’t like the entree menu much-mostly steaks, chicken, and other typical expensive American dining foods that I don’t care for much.
