  1. Zamas

By far my favorite hotel experience ever. If Cancun was the worst part of the trip, this was definitely the best. We took a sunrise walk and climbed on the cliffs behind the restaurant and had a terrific view of the waves crashing on the rocks. With our room located right near the beach, and the restaurant literally on the beach. Who doesn’t want to eat delicious tacos with their toes in the sand? And the food was good. Really good. The breakfast (Latte and Huevos Rancheros) was pretty disappointing though.

  2. Restaurante Temozon

On our way from Cancun to Tulum, we stopped in the first village we came to, Temozon, and ate at the only restaurant in town. It had two tables of white people, so I was skeptical, but when I realized that the server didn’t speak English I become hopeful that I was finally going to experience traditional Mexican cuisine. Julian and I had tamarind Juice and my dad had Lemonade. Both were entirely too sweet for my taste. I had Steak and Onions, and Julian had Guacamole (the only vegetarian thing on the menu). Again, the guacamole was amazingly fresh. My steak wasn’t cooked well, and was really tough, but the onions were so sweet and scrumptious. It came on a platter with beans, rice, and lettuce, which I sort of mixed together with the onions and that was good. After we were done the waiter gave us free Anais to drink. Even though it was horrible and we gave it to my mom when the waiter wasn’t looking, it reminded me that the people are just so nice.
